YOGA (from) Sanscrit yoke, union. The bringing together of the body, mind and soul. An idea expressed in the word "religion," the rejoining of man with his body, soul and God. For example, "Yoga is more than picking your nose with your toes."

YOUTH (from) Old English geoguth. That which we don't appreciate, or miss, until it is well nigh gone.

YULE (from) Middle English < Old English geol < Common Germanic jegwla. A twelve-day feast. A Norse solstitial festival which contributed to the modern celebration holly, ivy, illuminated trees, carols, gifts and the Yule log, which, in many countries, was a fertility symbol.

YUPPIE (from) Commerce. A person who exhibits greater than ordinary acquisition and consumption of goods. Not a good example, here is one nonetheless:
Q. "Do you want to buy the rights to this book?"
A. "Yup."
Q. "Do you have cash or credit?"
A. "Yup."

Z

ZENUENDO (from) zen, he meditates, + innuendo, a hint. A directive that makes you think for a while, maybe all your life.

ZERO (from) Arabic sifr. A cardinal number important to math students. Since school administrators depend upon the number of students in classroom chairs to satisfy governmental subsidies, zero students is their greatest fear. They do not seem to mind, however, that many of those students are zeros as long as the chairs are warm.
